Brabant 1673(h) ducaton Dav-4475
This specimen was lot 1470 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €160 (about US$222 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Charles II (1665-1700), AR ducaton, 1673, Anvers. Premier type. D/ B. enfantin à d. R/ Écu couronné, tenu par deux lions, orné du bijou de la Toison d'or. Nettoyé. Légères traces de corrosion. (duchy of Brabant, Charles II, 1665-1700, silver ducaton of 1673, Antwerp mint, first type. Obverse: infant bust right; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions, the jewel of the Golden Fleece below. Cleaned, traces of corrosion, Fine - Very Fine.)"
This type is listed for Antwerp (shown here) and Brussels (angel face mintmark, Dav-4475) for 1665-76. Similar ducatons were struck in Flanders.
