SB825-42609r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42609 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPANISH NETHERLANDS. Brabant. Ducaton, 1676. Antwerp Mint; mm; Hand. Charles II. NGC MS-61. Already standing as a fairly SCARCE date for the type, this impressive Mint State survivor displays some pleasing amber-gray toning and glints of brilliance, though some unevenness of strike is observed. Not surprisingly, the only such representative of the date in the NGC census." This type is listed for Antwerp (shown here) and Brussels (angel face mintmark, Dav-4475) for 1665-76. Similar ducatons were struck in Flanders.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 32.48 g, 0.944 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-4475; KM-79.1; Delm-325.
