Jean Elsen sale 141, lot 546

This specimen was lot 546 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,253 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe le Beau (1482-1506), AR double patard, 1489, Anvers. Au titre de Maximilien de Habsbourg, roi des Romains. D/ (lion) MAXIMILIAN REX ROMANO PATER I89 Dans un trilobe, l'écu couronné du Saint Empire. R/ (couronne) PHI ARCHIDVCIS AVSTRIE BVRG' BRAB' (main) Ecu d'Autriche-Bourgogne posé sur une croix fleuronnée. Extrêmement rare. Très Beau. Provient de la collection Symoens et de notre vente 117, 15 juin 2013, 873. (duchy of Brabant, Philip the Fair, 1482-1506, silver double patard of 1489, Antwerp mint. Struck in the name of Maximilian as king of Rome. Obverse: crowned arms of the empire in a quadrilobe; reverse: arms of Austria-Burgundy over a floriate cross. Extremely rare, Very Fine.)"

The hand mintmark for Antwerp may be found on the reverse after the word "BRAB".
