Jean Elsen sale 144, lot 1050

This specimen was lot 1050 in Jean Elsen sale 144 (Brussels, March 2020), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,162 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe le Beau (1482-1506), AV demi-noble (schuitken), 1488, Malines. Avec le titre de duc de Limbourg. D/ Le roi des Romains deb. de f. dans une nef, ten. une épée sur l'épaule. Sur le mât, l'écu d'Autriche-Bourgogne. R/ (aigle) REFORMACIO GVERRE PAX EST ANNO I488 Dans un polylobe, croix fleuronnée et liliacée, cantonnée de quatre couronnes, la lettre M en coeur. Très rare Légère faiblesse de frappe. Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Philip the Fair, 1482-1506, gold half noble of 1488, Malines mint, with the title of duke of Limburg. Obverse: the king of the Romans facing, holding a sword on his shoulder; below, the arms of Austria-Burgundy. Reverse: legend with date around, floriate cross in a polylobe, cantonned with four crowns, "M" at the center. Very rare, slightly weak strike. Very Fine.)"
