Jean Elsen sale 138, lot 638

This specimen was lot 638 in Jean Elsen sale 138 (Brussels, September 2018), where it sold for €380 (about US$527 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Charles Quint (1506-1555), AV florin Karolus d'or (tiers de réal), s.d. (1545-1552), Anvers. Ponctuation par points. D/ L'empereur couronné de f., ten. l'épée et le globe cr. R/ Aigle impériale présentant le grand écu à seize quartiers. Avec HISP REX et HOSTES TVOS. Tache au revers. Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Charles V, 1506-55, undated gold karolus florin (one-third real), Antwerp mint, punctuated with dots. Obverse: the crowned emperor facing, bearing a sword and orb; reverse: imperial eagle supporting a large shield of sixteen quarters. With HISPAR REX on the obverse and HOSTES TVOS on the reverse. Stain on reverse, very fine.)"
