The communist regime in Yugoslavia collapsed in 1991 as part of the general failure of communism in Russia and eastern Europe. Croats and Serbs disputed the territory of Bosnia and a nasty war ensued, in which the Bosnian Muslims were the main victims. Eventually, NATO intervened and imposed peace and Bosnia and Herzegovina have maintained a fragile independence since. This ten feninga was first issued in 1998 and issued again 2004-13. As of August 2023, US$1 = 1.80 Bosnian convertible marks, making this coin worth about US$0.06.
