Bolivia 1884-PTS FE 10 centavos

This specimen was lot 50327 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $499. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 10 Centavos, 1884. NGC PROOF-65. RARE. Lightly toned." This silver ten centavos, roughly equal to a dime, was struck in Potosi 1884-1900. It superseded similar ten centavos (KM 153.1-.3 and KM 158.1-.2) issued 1870-83. All types are fairly common tho varieties abound. The proof shown here is rare. Assayer FE is recorded for 1872-90.
