Bolivia 1884-PTS FE 20 centavos
This specimen was lot 1264 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,936. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Republic. 1825-present. Proof AR 20 Centavos. Potosí mint. Fortunato Equivar, assayer. Dated 1884 PTS FE. In NGC encapsulation graded Proof 66. Superbly toned gem proof with fabulous iridescent multicolored toning. Extremely rare and unpriced in KM. Only specimen ever graded. Purchased from Larry Hanks, December 1982." This type was struck 1884-1900 as part of Bolivia's second decimal coinage. This issue is a rare proof.
