Bolivia 1873-PTS FE boliviano
This specimen was lot 75200 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $317.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Boliviano, 1873-PTS FE. Potosi Mint. PCGS MS-62. Only one graded finer at PCGS." This type was struck in large quantities 1872-77 after Bolivia converted to decimal coinage in 1864. The boliviano was adopted as the successor to the old eight soles and struck in various forms 1864-93. The series contains many rare dates and varieties but this one is common. The silver boliviano effectively ended in 1875; later dates (1877, 1879, 1884, 1887, 1893) exist but they are very rare.
