CNG Lissner sale, lot 1178

This specimen was lot 1178 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $786.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Republic. 1825-present. AR Sol. Potosí mint. Fortunato Equivar, assayer. Dated 1862/1 PTS FP. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Gem toned original UNC with deep patina." This type, which restored the fineness to 903 thousandths, was struck 1860-63 in some numbers. The 1862 FP is common while the 1862/1 FP and 1862 FJ are scarce.
