This specimen was lot 30297 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $123.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 8 Soles, 1840-PTSLR. NGC AU-58." This type was struck in substantial quantities 1827-40 after Bolivian independence. It is common, tho a scarce "4 over inverted 4" variety exists for the year. This coin often comes poorly struck on bad planchets; this specimen is above average. Later eight soles (or sueldos; the sources do not agree) were struck to the same weight standard until 1859, when the weight was lowered to 20 grams. Bolivia converted to decimal coinage in 1864.
