This specimen was lot 45396 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 8 Soles, 1829-PTS. Potosi Mint. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, AU Details." This type was struck in large quantities 1827-40 after Bolivian independence. It was struck in Potosi. This coin usually comes poorly struck on bad planchets. Later eight soles were struck to the same weight standard until 1859, when the weight was lowered to 20 grams.
