This specimen was lot 23141 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Sol 1827-JM, MS65 NGC, deeply toned with incredibly sharp design details, rare type and date in this elite quality." Newcomers to Bolivian coins might think this type, issued 1827-29, to be as common as the well known 1830-PTS JL one sol (KM 94a) struck thru the 1830's and 1840's. Such is not the case.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3 g, 0.903 fine silver, .087 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM 94.
