This specimen was lot 75151 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $317.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Real, 1805-PTS PJ. Potosi Mint. Charles IV. PCGS MS-61. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck 1791-1809. The bust used on the 1791 is distinctly larger than that used on later dates, a phenomenon noted on the other denominations as well. Harris[2] notes that Potosi one reales of Charles IV are tied with Mexico City as the commonest mint yet many dates are scarce. Assayer PJ is recorded for 1803-24.
