This type was struck 1791-1808 at Potosi. While silver coins from Bolivia are very common, gold coins are scarce, tho the eight escudos is probably the most common denomination. This specimen was lot 3654 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bolivia. 4 Escudos, 1794-PR (Potosi). Charles IV. Armored bust right. Reverse: Crowned arms within Order chain. NGC graded Very Fine, Details (Obverse Graffiti)."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.875 fine gold, .380 troy oz AGW.
