This specimen was lot 76597 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Cob 8 Reales, 1754-P C. Potosi Mint. Ferdinand VI. NGC AU Details--Environmental Damage." Bolivian cobs can be collected by date, unlike the other mints (Mexico, Lima, Guatemala). This type was struck 1747-60 and assayers "C" and "q" are recorded for 1754. The Potosí mint was the last to abandon the manufacture of cobs, in 1773.
