This specimen was lot 73534 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Cob 1/2 Real, 1748. Potosi Mint. Ferdinand VI. PCGS VF-20. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck for Ferdinand VI throughout his entire reign. Assayer "q" stamped coins 1744-60 but the half reales bear neither mintmark nor assayers' initials. The silver cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine in 1728. The weight of half reales varied more (i.e., more underweight) than the larger denominations.
