This specimen was lot 71230 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1747-P. Potosi Mint, Assayer Luis de Quintanilla (q). Ferdinand VI. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details. Despite the surface damage and an irregular flan with a large crack, this Cob retains a decipherable date, two assayers, and two mintmarks. From the Pat Johnson Collection. Ex: Paul Karon Collection (Ponterio 3/90) Lot # 432." This type was struck for Ferdinand VI through his entire reign. Assayer "q" stamped coins 1744-59. The silver cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine in 1728.
