This specimen was lot 71208 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1733-P. Potosi Mint, Assayer Esteban Gutierrez Escalante (E). Philip V. PCGS VF-30. Though struck on a compact and somewhat underweight planchet, this Cob is delightfully round and retains plenty of detail. The obverse shows a bold mintmark, denomination, assayer, and date. All four marks on the reverse are at least partially shown, including the truncated but legible date. The coin's surfaces are nicely toned to a mottled gray. A pleasing example that is free from problems. From the Pat Johnson Collection. Ex: Ernesto Sellschopp Collection (Swiss Bank Corp - 09/1988) Lot # 880 (part of)." This type was struck for Philip V through his entire reign. Assayer "YA" is listed on four reales for 1733 only. Assayer "E" (1733-37, shown here) is also noted for 1733. The silver cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine in 1728.
