This specimen was lot 71124 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 2 Reales, 1656-P E. Potosi Mint. Philip III. PCGS VF-35 Gold Shield. A pleasantly toned cob with some flat areas but with several mintmarks, the assayer letter, and the date visible." As part of the reform of 1652, the date was moved to the center of the obverse, greatly increasing the percentage of production with legible dates. This type was issued until 1667. This specimen is reported to be overweight, a rare event for a circulation strike.
