Sincona sale 97, lot 1930

This specimen was lot 1930 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,886 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand I. 1521-1564. 1/2 Taler 1559, Kuttenberg. Münzmeister Matej Lidl und Ludvik Karel. Selten. Sehr schön. Kleiner Kratzer. Exemplar der Auktion Künker 194, Osnabrück, September 2011, Los 2757. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand I, 1521-64, half thaler of 1559, Kuttenberg mint. Rare, Very Fine, Small scratch.)"

This type was struck 1559-60 at Prague, Joachimsthal and Kuttenberg (shown here). Quarter thalers also exist.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 15.05 g, 0.882 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, this specimen 14.10 g.
