Bern 1656 10 kreuzer KM-25
This specimen was lot 4121 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,604 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, 10 Kreuzer 1656, Bern. Geschweiftes Wappen in Kartusche. Rv. Schrift in drei Zeilen, unten die Wertzahl. Von grosser Seltenheit. Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Kunzmann, Auktion SINCONA 44, Zürich, Oktober 2017, Los 5128. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, ten kreuzer of 1656, Bern mint. Obverse: indented arms on cartouche; reverse: three line inscription, date below. Of high rarity, About Very Fine.)"
This style was struck 1656 only. Another ten kreuzer of 1656-59 (KM 26) had an eagle on the reverse. At this time, ten kreuzer was one-sixth of a gulden or one ninth of a thaler.
