This specimen is one of a type struck for Belize 1974-81, 1992 and 2000, likely at London or Ottawa. Simultaneous with this circulation issue, the Franklin Mint was striking proofs of an entirely different design featuring the long-tailed hermit hummingbird. These were packaged in sets with the other denominations and mass-marketed to collectors in the United States, making them more familiar than the regular issue, which is rather drab.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 2.4 g, copper-nickel, 16.95 mm diameter, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM 35.
