Belgium 1979 frank

This is a Belgian one franc coin minted in 1979 of a type struck 1950-88. Divided almost equally into French and Flemish speaking halves, the kingdom of Belgium issues coins inscribed both in French and Flemish (shown here). In 2001, Belgium joined the euro and this pretense was dropped.

Recorded Mintage: 50,000,000.

Specification: 4 g, 21 mm diameter, copper-nickel.
