Belgium 1913 frank
The first specimen was lot 1524 in Jean Elsen sale 154 (Brussels, March 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Albert Ier (1909-1934), 1 frank, 1913 NL. Refrappe en argent. Tranche lisse. Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Albert I, 1909-34, one franc of 1913, Dutch legends, restrike in silver, plain edge. Uncirculated.)"
The second specimen was lot 37545 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $45. The catalog description[2] noted, "BELGIUM. Franc, 1913. Albert I. PCGS MS-64. KM-73.1. Dutch legends: 'DER BELGEN'." This type was struck 1910-14 with French and Flemish legends. This is a later restrike with a plain edge.
Recorded mintage: 3,000,000 plus restrikes.
Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, .067 troy oz ASW, 23 mm diameter.
