The first specimen was lot 5338 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $51.75. The catalog description[2] noted, "Belgium. 50 Centimes, 1886. Leopold II. Flemish legend. NGC graded Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines)." This type is remarkably scarce despite its large mintage and the lucky bidder in this auction obtained a bargain.

Recorded mintage: 3,750,000 plus 1,250,000 with French legends (KM 26).

Specification: 2.5 g, .835 silver, .067 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-27.
