Jean Elsen sale 141, lot 798

This specimen was lot 798 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €5,000 (about US$6,626 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 5 centimes, 1835. Extrêmement rare Taches au droit. Flan poli. Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper five centimes of 1835. Extremely rare, nicks on the obverse, proof, Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1833-63 at the Brussels mint in numerous varieties; this is a key date.
