Ponterio sale 150, lot 8472

This coin was lot 8472 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009, not sold). The catalog description[1] noted, "BELGIUM. 40 Francs, 1834. First year of issue of extremely rare type. EXTREMELY RARE. NGC MS-62." This type was struck 1834-41 but all the dates are rare. The specification matches the French 40 francs of Louis Philippe.

Specification: 12.90 g, 0.900 fine gold, .373 troy oz AGW, lettered edge.
