This gulden is a common date of a type struck 1837-48. Smaller than a U.S. half dollar, the gulden cannot be included with the thalers. One of the results of unification was the termination of separate coinages for each of the independent states, including Bavaria. No gulden were struck after 1871. Bavaria issued coins using the united empire standard in the denominations of 2, 5, 10 and 20 mark during 1871-1918 when the empire collapsed at the end of World War One. King Ludwig I ruled 1825-48.
