"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Doppelter Vereinstaler 1838. Einteilung des Königreiches. Kl. Rdf. Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, double union thaler of 1838. Very fine.)"
Bavaria resumed the striking of double thalers in 1837, likely prompted by the introduction of the vereinsthaler of only 18.52 g. This commemorative honored the restoration of the historical divisions of Bavaria (Pfalz, Oberbayern, etc).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 37.12 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 37.01 g.
