Sincona sale 18, lot 1246

This specimen was lot 1246 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 5,500 (about US$7,247 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Dukat 1830. München Aus Rheingold. Selten. Vorzüglich-gutes vorzüglich. (kingdom of Bavaria, ducat of 1830, Munich mint, gold from the Rhine. Rare, extremely fine to good extremely fine.)"

This one year type honored the gold obtained from the Rhine River. Other "EX AURO RHENI" ducats were issued until 1856. All are scarce to rare.
