This specimen was lot 956 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it sold for €240 (about US$384 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, BAVIERE, Ludwig Ier (1825-1848), AR Taler, 1828, Erection de la colonne de la Constitution. Petits coups. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, silver thaler of 1828, for the erection of the Column of the Constitution. Tiny nicks, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
Two different commemorative thalers were issued for 1828, of which this is the less common.
