Künker sale 263, lot 625

This specimen was lot 625 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €700 (about US$904 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Bavaria, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Kronentaler 1828. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, fast Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, crown thaler of 1828. Proof example, great patina, choice uncirculated.)"

This "crown thaler" was issued 1825-29.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 29.54 g, .871 fine silver, lettered edge.
