This specimen was lot 34013 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Bavaria. Ludwig 3 Kreuzer 1827 MS66 PCGS. It is of little wonder that the current offering is the highest graded example by PCGS--the satiny surfaces exhibiting a prominent stippled effect that lays b[are] any chance for flaws to hide. The full mint bloom is completely entrancing, and will without doubt pose a unique opportunity to collectors of the German series. From the Feeling Good Collection." Dreikreuzer or groschen are listed in the SCWC for Bavaria as far back as 1623. The first one struck to this module was KM 621 of 1794-98. Various types were struck until 1865, when the weight was reduced to 1.23 g. This type was struck 1827-30 and is rather scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.30 g, 0.333 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 728.
