This specimen was lot 22161 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $306. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bavaria. Taler, 1807. PCGS Unc Details--Scratches. Light scratch on bust. Lustrous and attractive." This type of 1807-22 is rather scarce. Also struck during Max's reign were kronenthalers (Dav-552, 29.34 g, 0.868 fine). Note that the king's bust is shown with short hair, which fashion came in during the French Revolution.

Recorded mintage: 100,000 (including KM 700).

Specification: 28 g, 0.833 fine silver.
