Künker sale 335, lot 3567

This specimen was lot 3567 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €120 (about US$157 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH: Karl Theodor, 1777-1799. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1789, München. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Charles Theodore, 1777-99, half convention thaler of 1789, Munich mint, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1778-81 and 1784-93. It is not rare but it is scarcer than the half thalers of his predecessor Maximilian Joseph.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 13.93 g.
