Bavaria 1756 ducat Fr-248
This specimen was lot 190 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 9,000 CHF (about US$13,716 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Herzogtum, seit 1623 Kurfürstentum, Maximilian III. Joseph, 1745-1777. Dukat 1756, München. Isargolddukat. Stempelschneider Franz Andreas Schega. Sehr selten. Das durch NGC zweithöchstbewertete Exemplar. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian III Joseph, 1745-77, ducat of 1756, Munich mint, Isar river gold. Very rare. NGC MS62, Second finest certified by NGC.)"
This type, struck 1756, 1760, 1762 from gold washed from the Isar, is much (7x) rarer than the regular issue with the shield reverse (KM 228).
