This specimen was lot 44018 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Basel. 1/2 Taler, 1786. NGC AU-58. Gorgeously toned in rainbow-hued shades with just a hint of highpoint friction atop that basilisk and city-view motifs that prevent Mint State certification." This type was struck 1785-86 along with a thaler (KM-179).
