Baden 1891-G 5 mark
This specimen was lot 6153 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €6,500 (about US$9,046 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, BADEN, Friedrich I. 1852-1907. 5 Mark 1891, ohne Querstrich im A. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Feine Kratzer, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, grand duchy of Baden, Frederick I, 1852-1907, five mark of 1891, without crossbar in the A. Very scarce in this quality, fine scratches, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This regular issue five mark was emitted 1891-1902. It is not rare but expensive in nice condition as is the silver two mark. A variety exists (shown here) with the crossbar missing in the "A" of "BADEN", which earns a premium.
