Baden 1824 gulden
This specimen was lot 4919 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,800 (about US$2,326 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BADEN-DURLACH, MARKGRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1803 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 GROSSHERZOGTUM, Ludwig, 1818-1830. Gulden 1824. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Erstabschlag. Fast Stempelglanz. (grand duchy of Baden, Louis, 1818-30, gulden of 1824. Very scarce in this quality, outstanding example, first strike, about uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1821-25 and is expensive. In 1845, the weight was reduced and the fineness increased in accordance with the requirements of the vereinsmunze.
