Avignon (1417-31) florin Fr-36

southeast France at the end of the Hundred Years War

This florin was minted in Avignon, in southern France, while the Popes (Martin V in this case) were in residence there while fleeing political turmoil in Rome. It is scarce. Martin did not issue any coins in Rome but a rare ducat exists from Bologna.
