This florin was minted in Avignon, in southern France, while the Popes (Urban V in this case) were in residence there while fleeing political turmoil in Rome. It is not rare but scarcer that contemporary Roman senatorial issues (Fr-2). The fleur-de-lys on the reverse is copied from the Florentine florin.
