Künker sale 294, lot 3458

This specimen was lot 3458 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €190 (about US$256 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH, 1. Republik, 1918-1938. 25 Schilling 1927, Wien. GOLD. Fast Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Slg. Bernhard Terletzki. Exemplar der Lagerliste Fritz Rudolf Künker 145, Osnabrück 1999, Nr. 232. (first republic of Austria, 1918-38, twenty-five schilling of 1927, Vienna mint. About uncirculated.)"

The SCWC, which lists this type for 1926-34, does not price this coin except in uncirculated, suggesting that it spent its life in bank vaults before entering the collector market.

Recorded mintage: 72,672.

Specification: 5.88 g, 0.900 fine gold, .170 tory oz AGW, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Arnold Hartig.
