Sincona sale 77, lot 2920

This specimen was lot 2920 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,093 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. Taler 1803 A, Wien. Selten. Vorzüglich. Leicht gereinigt. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis II, 1792-1835, thaler of 1803, Vienna mint. Rare, Extremely fine, Slightly cleaned.)"

This type of 1792-1804 is also listed as Dav-1178. It is rather scarce. It is the second-to-last type struck for Francis using his title of Holy Roman Emperor, which title he gave up in 1806.
