This specimen was lot 388 in Schulman auction 379 (Amsterdam, June 2024), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,185 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungary - Souverain d'or 1796 G, Gold, FRANZ II 1792-1835 Nagybánya mint. Bust right. Rev. crowned arms. NGC MS61." This type is a ducat, not a souverain d'or. It was struck 1792-1804 at five mints (Vienna = A, Kremnitz = B, Prague = C, Karlsburg = E, Nagybánya = G). Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, the standard Austrian design was used and we will list it therein.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold.
Catalog reference: KM 1886, Fr-213 (listed under Hungary).
