This specimen was lot 30275 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1729. Hall Mint. Charles VI. NGC MS-63. Presenting deep gunmetal gray toning and some alluring brilliance emanating from below throughout, this choice crown assuredly dazzles and displays the typical slight wavy nature that is characteristic of the roller dies employed by the Hall Mint. From the Augustana Collection." The second specimen was lot 3265 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,206 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Karl VI. 1711-1740. Taler 1729, Hall. Fast FDC. Prachtexemplar. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1729, Hall mint. About Mint State, Cabinet piece.)"

This type was struck for Karl VI 1724-29 and 1733-34 and is common. Other thalers for 1729 include Dav-1037, -1040 and -A1054. Similar coins were issued from Graz, Vienna and Breslau.

Recorded mintage: 415,000.
