Künker Auction 441, lot 4762

This specimen was lot 4762 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €550 (about US$757 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand III., 1625-1637-1657. Reichstaler 1641, Wien. Mit vier Spitzen am vorderen Rand des Kragens und AV . G · H · BO · REX am Ende der Vorderseitenumschrift. Feine Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1637-57, thaler of 1641, Vienna mint, with four points at the front edge of the collar and AV · G · H · BO · REX at the end of the obverse legend. Fine patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Austrian thalers for 1641 include KM 840/Dav-3174 (shown here), KM 882/Dav-3175 (Vienna mint), KM 883/Dav-3175A, KM 895/Dav-3187 (Graz mint) and KM 996/Dav-3187A (klippe). This type was struck 1637-49 and is common.
