Künker sale 335, lot 4663

This specimen was lot 4663 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,570 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Ferdinand II. 1592-1618-1637. Dicker doppelter Reichstaler 1629, Wien. RR Henkelspur, sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, double thaler of 1629, Vienna mint. Rare, mount mark, very fine.)"

This is one of the few double thalers struck for more than one year, being minted 1625-26, 1629-36. It was struck using the same dies as the single thaler Dav-3091.
