Austria 1619 thaler Dav-3049
This specimen was lot 1483 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €700 (about US$904 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Matthias, 1608-1612-1619. Reichstaler 1619, Wien. R Hübsche Patina, leichte Bearbeitungsspuren im Feld der Vorderseite, sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias I, 1612-19, thaler of 1619, Vienna mint. Scarce, toned, light tooling on the obverse fields, very fine.)"
This one year type, one of the first products of the Vienna mint, is listed as fairly scarce but it is very similar to other thalers of the period. It varies from the very similar Dav-3048 by adding "ZC" (the old abbreviation of "et cetera") to the end of the reverse legend.
