Künker sale 423, lot 26

This specimen was lot 26 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €700 (about US$991 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand I., 1522-1558-1564. 1/4 Taler o. J. (1546-1550), Hall. Gekröntes und geharnischtes Brustbild l., mit der Linken das Zepter schulternd, die Rechte am Schwertgriff//Adler, den Kopf nach l. gewandt, auf der Brust zweifeldiges Wappen (Kastilien/Österreich). RR Sehr schön +. Exemplar der Auktion H. D. Rauch 79, Wien 2006, Nr. 97. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand I, 1522-1558-1564, undated quarter thaler, circa 1546-50, Hall mint. Obverse: crowned and armored half-length bust left, with Order chain, scepter and sword; reverse: eagle, head left, supporting the impaled arms of Castile and Austria. Very rare, choice very fine.)"

We show an earlier quarter thaler from the Vienna mint which has different arms on the eagle.

Specification: 6.9-7.2 g, silver, 30 mm diameter, this specimen 7,07 g.
